[clug-talk] Linux Blows...and Sucks

I thought I would pipe in on this also. While I haven't read everything
I can see that their is vast differences in opinions, experiences,
observations, skill-levels & apparently d*** sizes as well...among other
things...

If I could through out a few things here to consider:
* Juan: I know you have been around the list for awhile & I notice that
you are in Northern Alberta. Not sure where you are but is there a LUG
in your community you could connect with? You are obviously a
passionate person with lots to share (please note...not judging quality
of contribution). You are always welcome to CLUG & the list as everyone
is...but local communities need people involved as well.

* Everyone: Need I remind everyone that all of these e-mails get
archived on the web & someone Googling GNU/Linix & some of the other
things discussed, would be mortified by the behaviour, language, among
other things.

* Everyone: Isn't this the kind of thing that MS wants to accomplish?
Causing division & separation in the FLOSS/Open Source/GNU/Linux
community? Monkey-boy is dancing a little bit happier today I think!

* With Regards to Children: I happened to know for a fact that pretty
much all elementary schools in Calgary are all almost all or mostly Mac
based. This is primarily due to there ability to work with the
simplified interface. In junior high they will likely see more Windows
& high school will be almost always Windows. This is usually based on
decisions by the schools, the applications being used, etc. While Linux
may not be present on the desktop in Calgary schools, there is a good
showing of open source applications (i.e. TuxPaint, Audacity, DBAN,
etc.) being used or deployed. While it may not be the "ideal" (an
entirely Linux based desktop), it is a start & seeds are being planted.

* Everyone: FLOSS (Linux-based or not) is all about choice & in the end
if we can't have the "ideal" (see above), the best we can hope for (for
the moment) is the closest we can get to that "ideal" as we can & keep
moving forward. If you have the skills contribute...if you have the
cash...donate...if you aren't & programming but use
applications...consider submitting bugs, creating documentation,
designing graphics, maintain webpages...if you have an idea...research &
find a project you can join or assist...can't fiond one...start your
own...can't think of any other way to contribute...advocate/teach/share.

I am guilty of this myself...I do take a lot from the FLOSS community
but give very little back. I consistently try to make a difference
(however small) to the FLOSS community. I personally believe that you
should use the best solution for the job at the best price. My
preference is always to open source & Linux (more specifically
cross-platform), but I try to never judge (I fail at this sometimes...my
bad) someone else if they made a different choice.

Let's try & get along a little better here guys & gals & lets grow up a
little ok? Myself included!
