[clug-talk] Re; Wednesday meeting.

Hello all. I was a guy who came to the meeting once. I would like to come
more but with 3 kids its tough between soccer, basketball ect. Im sure that
many of you were in the same boat. Im wondering if there might be available
a video session of the meeting or something like that. Im interested in
learning more especially about the command line but cant make it. Just
wondering.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions, ideas & offers
of assitance, but I think I have abandoned this.

Unfortunately, of the suggestions & ideas I have tried, none seemed to
have solved the problem or met the criteria.  I can confirm that yes
the scpt file is actually a compiled AppleScript & not a text file.  I
had real high hopes for the hex editors, but no joy.

That is one thing I like about the Linux community in general, but
specifially the CLUG community.  There is great amount of knowledge
here & there is always that willingness to share information & help
someone solve a problem....beyond the simple RTFM answers.

Abstract:

X.org upgrade botched? Someone just asked you to find out why a server
is no longer working, and it doesn't have a monitor? Tired of hearing
"RTFM" and not knowing how to RTFM in any sane way? Just looking to up
the ante in your Linux experience? Looking to share your command line
knowledge with others?

The focus of the talk will be on learning, specifically:

    * Learning to navigate the command line (if you've ever tried logging
      into a machine and your arrow keys don't work, what do you do?)
    * Learning to read man pages (not just typing man 'command' and hoping
      for the best)
    * Learning new commands
    * Learning to use old commands in a new way
    * Most importantly:
    * When there's a problem, steps you can take to solve it yourself
