Originally the 1600 was a no-go with MythTV, but that seems to be fixed.

Note: it does not claim to support QAM, which is needed for Digital Cable
reception (or snooping or your neighbour's internet traffic, but that's a
different topic). Off-Air ATSC digital uses 8VSB modulation which it does
have.

err.... Not sure I would trust anything for 24/7 ;-)

Re setting it (950) up. I don't have/watch TV so I wouldn't know. I have a
PVR150 running inputs from VCR only.
