I have simplified considerably. I don't use the myth box anymore. I
have an old Linksys WRT54G with OpenWRT bridging my media room with the
rest of the network. I stream content from the Linux box in the
basement (over Samba). In the media room I have a WD TV (one of the new
ones with built in Ethernet) connected to the Stereo and TV over HDMI.
Works like a charm.
The only change I plan to make is to build another router and use a 5Ghz
radio as the 2.4 Ghz spectrum is getting crowded around here. Even
still I can currently stream x264 720p content over the wireless bridge.
