another way to resolve this (there is always more than one way) is to 
install the ubuntu-restricted-extras package.  You can find the package 
in the Add/Remove Software, or you can open a terminal/command prompt 
window and type in:

   sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

and then enter your password (for the user you are logged in as).

This will give you the ability to play Flash, as well as installing the 
tools needed to properly play/burn MP3s, various video formats, and a 
number of "standard" windows fonts.
