[clug-talk] February meeting topic

I don't have anything for February, however I can do something for May or June.

I'd like to present on amateur radio. I'd prefer to focus on one particular mode.

Two areas I'm interested in that have a significant computer focus are satellites and HF digital modes.

Amateur Satellite radio involves tracking and then correcting for the movement of a satellite and then communicating through it using voice, or digital modes. Satellites as amateurs use them aren't very practical, but they are pretty cool. Any demo's I do of this mode would be pretty crude, I don't really have the right gear.

HF Digital modes leverage the tremendous amount of processing power found in modern sound card DSPs to allow for point to point global communication. I have the gear necessary to do some pretty cool demonstrations.

I'd have to present in late spring or summer because the demonstrations would need to be conducted outside, I also need time to prepare.

Any interest?
