[clug-talk] Tip: Installing Ubuntu via tftp server

I thought I'd share a little tip I found on a quick and painless way of
installing ubuntu.

I needed to re-install ubuntu-server on an old 2Ghz Dell with limitations
   - No CDROM Drive (I can't believe it, I'm out of spare cdrom drives).
   - USB Flash 1.1 was WAY TOO SLOW

Google found many howtos on how to setup a TFTP boot server to install
ubuntu, but they all seemed
a little over-kill, and complex for a one-off solution... I only needed to
install 1 server.  But then I googled a bit more
and found this:

So I booted up XP (in it's only safe environment a virtual machine). and I
followed the very clear step by step instructions,
and within moments I was installing ubuntu server 10.04 over the net (thank
god for a nice and quick ubuntu mirror in canada).

So if you need a quick way to install ubuntu on an old machine, but don't
have to do it often enough to setup a permanent
TFTP server, I recommend this quick howto.
