Thanks for the help guys. Upon messing around, I fixed it by

- "Activating" the 177.80 drivers (through the GUI)
- Not rebooting yet

mitch at mitch:~$ sudo lspci | grep VGA
[sudo] password for mitch:

6100] (rev a2)
mitch at mitch:~$

 Then I took the bus number on the left, and stuck it manually into my xorg.

        Option  "NoLogo"        "True"

Save. Reboot and it worked :)

Also, its Ibex, and its a GeForce 6100.
