[Clug-tech] hp pavilion n3438 laptop sound not working

I have a hp pavilion n3438 laptop that is running debian 5.0 and I do not
have sound on it. First something came up saying something about gstreamer
so I went through synaptic, added a couple of things and now it says that I
should just delete my speaker icon as I don't have sound set up. Can you
please walk me through what I must do?? I looked on google and as best as I
can tell its running a legacy card but am unsure if im right. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.
