Thanks for the reminder. I have not posted them yet, and I already have

I have been unable to get VMWare workstation 6.5 running on my laptop
anymore, but VMWplayer is currently working fine.

My laptop is a year old now. The CPU is:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9550 @ 2.66GHz
with 4 GiB of RAM.
I would recommend using Virtualbox. If you do not need USB support
(beyond keyboard and mouse) the Virtualbox OSE edition that is packaged
for most distros is more than capable (very easy to install in Ubuntu).

They should, but given the plethora of CPU models, definitely check the
Intel web site before buying.

This can be a bit of a nightmare to navigate through. There are so many
models with similar numbers but very different features.
