Interesting,

I actually just was googling to see if there was anyone who had tried it,
I found that a newer version of the catalyst had been release YESTERDAY.

I just installed it and enabled the direct2d acceleration, and it 
actually seems to be working a lot better.

just an FYI.

I will still try to get the radeonhd driver working, to compare.
